At Newmount Waste Water Treatment plant, work was carried out on 7new tanks of varying dimensions, and associated pipe work etc,as the refurbishment of a 17m open top storage vessel.The work was carried out by Bay Sandblasting Ltd,  Mount Maunganui. Surface preparation:Abrasive Blast to Sa 2½;

External:Prefabrication prime Carboweld 11 @ 25µm DFT;Spot repair and spot coat Carbozinc 859 @ 75µm DFT;Two Full Coats of Carboguard 690 @ 150µm DFT   
This system was exclusively specified by the engineer, under the direction of the Maintenance Engineer for Waihi Gold. This was as a result of 6 years case history with Altra~Max / Carboguard 696 HBE in both waste water treatment, and cyanide slurry tanks. This is the only product that has withstood the severe chemical exposure and the high abrasion/immersion environment. Previously these process tanks had a very short life span, and regular maintenance repaint work was required to minimize corrosion.
