Gloucester Street Bridge

130 year old Gloucester Street Bridge, located in Christchurch New Zealand was badly damaged in the 2011 and 2012 Christchurch earthquakes. The challenge was to preserve and protect the bridge's original heritage features and look while strengthening the structure.

During surface preparation, encapsulation of the bridge was required to ensure all lead based paint residues were collected to prevent contamination of the river below.

Systems applied to the bridge were as follows:

Cast iron balustrade: Carbozinc 859 EZ2 and Carboguard 636, E~Line 379.

Old cast iron & new steel beams: Carbozinc 859 EZ2, Carboguard 690, E~Line 379.
